The Breath of Trees in Winter

The breath of trees anticipates, yearns mistily for spring scents,
Takes in the chill of frosts the thick of smoke
Breaths out stark light towards stars
Breezes between filaments
Roots to trunk, trunk to branch,
branch to stick, stick to twig , twig to bud ,
bud to leaf
Branches divide and grow , divide and wait
Distant thunder .... crows.... smoke
Patience standing quietly tall
Enduring weather's every whim
Brothers and sisters in arms
Twigs dreaming bud bursting blossoms.
